NYS Senator James Sanders JR., Ready Rockaway, And World Cares Center Present The Ready Rockaway Responders Everyday Hero Awards

In Appreciation to Those Who Have Served, Will Serve, and Continue to Serve the Rockaway Communities.

NEW YORK, NY (September 8, 2016). On Saturday, September 24, 2016, NYS Senator James Sanders Jr. in partnership with Ready Rockaway and World Cares Center, will host The Rockaway Ready Responders Everyday Hero Awards. The event will commemorate those individuals who have served, will serve, and continue to serve the Rockaways through their selfless efforts in helping to build more resilient and prepared communities. This event, held at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital (BOCES Building) at 510 Beach 20th St., Far Rockaway, NY 11691 between 12 – 2 pm, will emphasize the continued civic duty and collaboration needed under the threat of future disasters and crises.

Senator Sanders Jr. will welcome guests and present the awards alongside Ready Rockaway and World Cares Center. In addition to honoring “Everyday Heroes,” Ready Rockaway and World Cares Center will announce a new program called Ready Rockaway Responders which will deliver disaster preparedness workshops to help the Rockaway Communities prepare, respond, and recover from future disasters such as Superstorm Sandy. Each workshop will include training from World Cares Center’s Disaster Volunteerism Academy and a guest partner offering free health and safety services to the community. Walgreens will be the first partner on October 15th, setting up a flu shot clinic. The dates and names of the workshops are as follows:

October 15th: Intro to Disaster Volunteerism with Walgreens flu shot clinic
