World Cares Center (WCC) was created in the wake of 9-11 to help organize and train volunteers and to give community leaders the critical support they need to help their neighborhoods recover from a disaster and be better prepared for the next. WCC believes resiliency is best promoted when all community members are prepared to respond to disasters together, so working together to provide training coordination and support to the community is a topmost priority. As we increasingly see our communities facing the “next one” more frequently, our work of organizing volunteer leadership, training and protecting our frontline responders for disasters is becoming more critical than ever.

Your donation will enable World Cares Center to support communities in crisis locally, nationally, and internationally while we also look ahead to the future. This includes:

Ukraine

  • In Lviv, World Cares Center delivered “MedPut’s” loosely translated as Medical Clinics in six refugee camps providing medical care for all refugees including specialty care for women and children.
  • WCC also set up Emotional Resiliency Workshops for Families and Children which provided healing journals for children and guides for parents translated into Ukrainian to help child survivors manage their trauma and grief. Close to 1,000 kits have so far been distributed.
  • WCC’s monthly Ukraine Service Providers Roundtable provide a source of support and connection to resources for providers.
  • In 2023 WCC plans to work with local NGO’s and Universities to provide train the trainer sessions to expand our Resiliency work by empowering Ukrainian student and provider to deliver the program. We will be bringing along a trained medical team

Knowledge and Collaboration Center

  • WCC has been working with a growing advisory board of volunteer organizations to implement the first ever Collaborative Disaster Volunteer Credential program. These partners are committed to using the credential which facilitates cross organization coordination and ensures the skill level and safety of their volunteers.
  • WCC is in the process of developing a new platform that will include all the features of www.ReadyResponders.org and www.disastervolunteerismaca…. This platform will be offered free of charge, available 24/7 starting in 2023. It will help users to get training to prepare for emergencies, disaster volunteer, acquire the skills and tools they need to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disaster safely all from one site that will be available to community organizers and volunteers anywhere.
World Cares Center is registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Contributions to the World Cares Center are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. World Cares Center’ tax identification number is 41-202-4802.
