9/11 Day, a 501(c)3 nonprofit and AmeriCorps funds World Cares Center to support The Collaborative Disaster Volunteer Credential
training program in honor of the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance.

As we approach the anniversary of 9/11 and the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, we challenge you to transform the words “Never Forget” intoaction. Join a powerful movement designed to prepare and enable everyone to become Ready Responders. Ready Responders arrive to the scene first and they know what to do because they’ve been trained. They know the feeling of empowerment that comes with being prepared for a crisis and the feeling of purpose that comes with helping those around them when disaster strikes.

Since 2001, the frequency and severity of disasters have increased, presenting daunting safety challenges. We need Ready Responders now more than ever. Join World Cares Center in this movement as we partner with AmeriCorps, the federal agency for national service and volunteerism, to ensure “Never Forget” is more than a phrase.

Participants in the program will take a 2.5-hour training session, marking the beginning of their commitment to become Ready Responders. Each participant will receive a Ready Responder Pack containing essential volunteer protective equipment and a Ready Responder T-shirt. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to star in their own personalized “I am a Ready Responder” video, showcasing their dedication to the cause. A curated list of 9/11 volunteer opportunities will also be provided, ensuring everyone can find meaningful ways to contribute.

By becoming a Ready Responder, you are making a pledge to resilience, health, safety, and preparedness.

You can choose to participate in our training in several ways: attend a session at our center, have us come to your location, join a group Zoom training, or be part of the launch event. Training sessions for September and October are being booked now. We will also collect your “I am a Ready Responder” videos, where you’ll announce your name, job or hobby, and your commitment to being a Ready Responder, to create a powerful collective video that reflects the significance of this movement.

We’d like to take a moment to thank Director of the M.S. in Emergency Management and Associate Professor Lucia Velotti, PhD, from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and Career and Technical Education teacher Salvatore Puglisi from Murry Bergtraum High School for Business Careers. We are grateful for our partnerships with Dr. Velotti and Mr. Puglisi to support and empower future Ready Responders! Thank you Dr. Velotti and Mr. Puglisi!
